- This work was digitized for the City of Eagle Point after due diligence to discover Davies' descendants thanks in part to grants from the Jackson County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Division of the Association of College and Research Libraries.
Davies was at one time a principal and high school instructor at Eagle Point. He began his research to write the history of the Eagle Point school district in 1958 and finished years later. He covers the historic boundaries of District 9, each of the town schools within the district as well as the growth and consolidation of the Oregon school system that began under Julius Alonzo Churchill, who was state Superintendent of Public Instruction in the 1920s. Topics include construction, state policies, sports, student clubs and awards among others. Photographs, building layout diagrams, a roster of teachers employed from 1899 to 1962, a list of district directors are included in this comprehensive work.
